How to Get a Free Copy of Your Credit Report Online
The Federal Trade Commission’s web site has valuable information on identity theft and consumer protection.

It recommends that you monitor your credit reports to watch for false information such as accounts that were not opened by you.  You are eligible by law to receive one free copy of your credit report per year from each of the three credit reporting agencies:  Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.

If you stagger your requests you can check your credit every four months for free.  For example request a report from Experian in October, from Equifax in February, and finally TransUnion in June.  When October rolls around again, it will have been a year and you can get another report from Experian.  Although each reporting agency can have different information, much of the information may be the same.  Of course you can always pay to get additional reports if it hasn’t been a year since your last request, which you would want to do if you come across any problematic information.

You can request a copy of your credit report by phone, mail, or online.  Online requests will return a report immediately.  We have created an instruction sheet that guides you through the process of ordering a report through Experian.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month Materials

All of know someone affected by Breast Cancer.  Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, aside from skin cancer. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), an estimated 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed among women in the United States this year.

All women should have regular screening for breast cancer says Ahmedi Jemal, strategic director for cancer surveillance at the American Cancer Society . “If breast cancer is caught early, the five-year survival rate is 98 percent, but if you catch it late the survival rate is only 24 percent,” he added.*

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  We’ve prepared materials to help increase awareness and promote regular screenings.

  • A reminder postcard to send monthly to the women you love to remind them to conduct self exams and get regular mammograms.
  • Labels to put on your calendar to remind yourself to do your self exam or use as Return Address Labels to increase awareness of the cause.
  • Note cards to send to encourage those battling breast cancer, encourage or thank people who support breast cancer research, or to thank those supporting and advocating for patients.
