Anyone with typical home-office printing needs would do well to check out the Interact S605. It’s easy to operate, comes with some nice features, and is fast enough to beat most of its competition. Would have liked the option to connect by Ethernet, and also would have liked to have seen better-quality photo prints at larger sizes.

Although sharing workbooks online is one of the key benefits of GoogleDocs, there are times when you may want to work with workbooks offline or use them with other applications.

This week’s tip will show you how to download a spreadsheet to your computer that can be emailed or opened with other applications.  You can save workbooks as Excel documents, OpenOffice documents, or even PDF files which can be viewed exactly as you created them whether or not the viewing computer is loaded with the same fonts.

When you have columns of data in a spreadsheet, it is helpful to be able to sort the data by various parameters, like alphabetizing names or sorting grades from highest to lowest, or vice versa.  Today’s example shows how to sort data for test grades for a couple of class periods–alphabetizing by last name, and sorting grades highest to lowest by class period.

If you’ve ever had to touch up or repaint the rooms of your house, you know how important it is to know the exact color and finish.  Sometimes you can look at your old paint cans but if you’re like me, those are probably covered in paint and impossible to read.

Using Picasa
PART 6:  NAME TAGS AND FACE RECOGNITION FEATURE

Every now and then I need to puttogether a slide show honoring someone–either for a birthday, rehearsal dinner, anniversary, or memorial.

Picasa’s face recognition featuremakes this job much easier by scanning your entire computer for images and grouping them together by similar facial features.  You can then assign a name tag to one of the photos and all of the photos it matches to that person, will be grouped together in a folder by the person’s name.
